Postpartum Doula Care

Sometimes after you come home with baby, you need an extra set of hands to help you ease into parenthood. I offer you non-judgemental postpartum doula care and advice that is rooted in evidence based research to aid in the care of your new baby and the postpartum mother. When you work with me, my support includes whatever a family needs to enjoy and care for their new baby.

You and I will work together to figure out the best postpartum support plan for your family.

Some examples of how I can assist as your postpartum doula include:

Post-cesarean section care
Caring for baby, giving the new parents time and space to sleep (either at home or in the hospital)
Breastfeeding support and guidance
Guidance in the basics of newborn care
Helping older siblings adjust to new baby and teaching them how to best support mom and baby
babywearing instruction
Very light housework and meal prep
Companionship
And much more. I’d love to explore how I can best support your family.

Services Update

As of June 1, 2020 I am no longer accepting postpartum clients. If you need assistance finding a doula in the DC Metro area, particularly a Muslim or a doula of color, please email me.
Former birth clients may reach out to me for special consideration. Otherwise, please consider taking one of my classes.

“I hired Malika as a postpartum doula. She was fabulous! She listened to my birth story and took care of the baby so my husband and I could get some sleep. She gave me a nice leg massage which was swollen and had nerve damage from the epidural. She helped me with breastfeeding and taught me some new holds.
